About Top Law Blog and our editorial standards
How we write, check, and update family-law content, how attorney profiles are selected, and the limits of what this site can do.
Top Law Blog is an independent family-law resource. We publish plain-language guides about divorce, custody, support, property, and interstate cases, with a focus on North Carolina and local guides for Greensboro and Guilford County. We are not a law firm and we do not provide legal advice.
01Editorial policy
Articles provide general legal information, not legal advice. Family law varies by state and changes over time, so readers should consult a licensed attorney about their own situation. We aim to explain the law clearly, note what is uncertain, and avoid overstating what any process can achieve.
02Fact-checking
We base content on statutes, court information, and official agency guidance, and we link to official court self-help resources where they help. When the law changes, we update affected pages.
03How attorney spotlights are selected
Attorney profiles use public records and official firm pages. We present practice areas as the attorney or firm describes them, and we do not publish confidential client information. We do not claim specific results or guarantees. Any commercial relationship that affects a profile is disclosed.
04Referral stories
Some articles describe how attorneys coordinate or refer matters, for example when a case crosses state lines. We publish these only when they are factual and approved, and we do not disclose confidential client facts.
05Corrections
We correct errors when we find them or when readers point them out. Significant corrections are noted on the affected page.
06Legal disclaimer
The information on this site is general and is for educational purposes only. It is not legal advice, and reading it does not create an attorney-client relationship. Laws differ by state and change over time. For advice about your situation, consult a licensed attorney in your state.
07Contact
